This 20-year-old chalet had a beautiful exterior and great volumes, but the interior had yellowed with time.

This 20-year-old chalet had a beautiful exterior and superb volumes, but the interior had yellowed over time. The objective: a complete refresh within a controlled budget, with the creation of a new bedroom and shower room on the ground floor, replacing the old laundry room.
The wood has been bleached with wax to maintain its transparency and restore light to the space. The original staircase, designed by a craftsman, has been preserved and repainted in dark gray, giving a "Gustavian" touch to the place. This same matte and deep shade – a solvent-free paint by Little Greene – has been used on several walls and to give a second life to existing furniture, such as the dresser or the low furniture.
A false ceiling has been added in the entrance to integrate discreet lighting. A vintage stove has been installed, bringing charm and authenticity. The kitchen has been custom-designed and created, including a Cornue Grand Maman range.
Result: a traditional chalet subtly modernized, with a Nordic spirit, that has managed to preserve all its character.
