EAST SIDE

Carpentry and Transparency
Located at 1,000 meters above sea level, the decorator's house uncompromisingly showcases all her know-how, the result of fifteen years of experience and limitless intuition. Nestled against the gentle slope, it remains discreet both in summer and winter, under a cloak of grass or a layer of snow. On the three other sides, it is nothing but windows three meters high, extending to the roof. Carpentry and transparency; beams, rafters, and the color of time: the structure is the work of her husband, carpenter Didier Roux, a specialist in wooden construction. “He’s a little annoyed with me about the doors; I asked him for a true feat,” acknowledges the demanding “client.” To allow light to flow freely, the interior consists of a single large volume, with a simple cube to define the only bedroom. No curtains, even less shutters.
We are inside, we are outside, we no longer know, but we feel sheltered in this pure design of a bleached wood chalet.
